Oasis Salon & Spa (Rocky Mount, VA)
A person who provides a service has to enjoy what they do in order for a customer to love the service provided.
This week I sat down at Oasis Salon & Spa in Rocky Mount, VA with the owner, Christy Floyd.
Christy is a mother of two beautiful girls and a wife to a supportive husband. When she first started out, she looked at many different options, and none were appealing. Four years ago this past February, Christy opened Oasis Salon & Spa in Rocky Mount, VA. Franklin County was the obvious location because she is a Franklin County girl and can’t see being anywhere else. When deciding on a name, Oasis was the choice because of its meaning. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of an oasis is a getaway or a place to escape. This is exactly what Christy wanted to provide to people. If you have ever been to Oasis Salon & Spa, you know how relaxing and welcoming you feel the minute you walk in, whether visiting or having a pampering moment.
Even though she always loved giving her Barbies a new hairstyle, Christy originally wanted to be a counselor. When attending Ferrum College and majoring in psychology, after a while she decided it was not her path. Christy then transferred to cosmetology school even though some people did not agree with her decision.
If you provide a product or service to customers, there has to be something that you love about what you do. Christy loves meeting new customers and learning about their families. She also loves to make her clients feel good about themselves while providing them with a place to escape from their everyday routines. If you are looking for a color, Christy would love to help because she loves the creative challenge coloring provides.
As I have stated before, every business is hard to run and keep moving forwards. There are days that being home would be nice. For Christy her family and the people who are counting on her every day keep her moving forward. God led her to what she does and Christy’s motto is God will help her through it. Whenever things get hard or not working out, she prays and God helps her through it.
Every business owner strives to have customers who enjoy their experience enough to return and bring their friends and family as well. When a customer arrives at Oasis, Christy tries to provide a place for them to escape from their daily problems and make their day a little better.
When a customer leaves Oasis, Christy and her team try to provide the best service and make each client feel like family. They do this by making sure each client leaves happy and by exceeding expectations. Learning about Christy and Oasis Salon & Spa was enjoyable. I encourage you all to go take a break from your everyday life, maybe get a facial during lunch.
